Otiumberg x Uncommon Ancestor: A Collaboration Rooted in Craft and Meaning
Launching 7th November 2025, Otiumberg unveils a thoughtful collaboration with Uncommon Ancestor, the design studio founded by Kara Douwma. This partnership celebrates craftsmanship, sisterhood, and the intimate rituals that bookend our days — from the moment we remove our jewellery at night to when we put it back on each morning.
A Shared Love for Craft
The collaboration was born from Christie and Rosanna Wollenberg’s admiration for Kara’s unique approach to design. Drawn to her ability to blend architecture, fine furniture making, and embroidery, the sisters envisioned creating an object that would complement Otiumberg jewellery in both function and beauty.
The result is a handcrafted jewellery tray — designed to rest gracefully on a vanity, bedside table, or dressing area. It serves as a space to hold your most loved pieces, celebrating the everyday rituals that connect us to our jewellery.
The Design Story: Symbolism and Sisterhood
Every element of the Otiumberg x Uncommon Ancestor jewellery tray reflects thoughtful design and storytelling — from its solid walnut frame to the bespoke embroidered panels, each one made by hand in Uncommon Ancestor’s studio.
“When beginning research for this collaboration, I knew I wanted to reflect sisterhood,” Kara shares. “That led me to the story of Snow White and Rose Red, a German fairy tale about twin sisters whose names are inspired by rose trees.
For the second design, Kara explored celestial symbolism.
