Our regular use of 9 karat solid gold sets Otiumberg apart. Often overlooked in favour of its 18 karat counterpart, 9 karat gold offers a number of advantages. We personally love the softer, dusty hue of 9 karat versus the bright yellow of higher karats of gold. 9 karat is more attainably priced and more durable, meaning your rings will withstand the wear and tear of the day-to-day.
The Single Mine Origin Band Ring Collection
In 2023 we launched our Single Mine Origin collection, handcrafted from fully traceable 9 karat gold sourced from the Ity Mine - a positive step towards more sustainable and transparent gold mining practices.
Whilst the use of recycled solid gold reduces our environmental impact in some senses, its use takes a livelihood from mining communities, and the original sourcing of the gold used is very hard to trace.
We are moving the production of more and more of our solid gold pieces to Single Mine Origin gold in the near future, and hope to craft the majority of our collection in SMO gold as time goes on.
